Newson had come to the gathering, and for a while Ive whispered affectionately with him and Powell Jobs. Before going indoors, Ive greeted Powell Jobs’s twenty-three-year-old son, Reed, whose collar-length hair underscored his resemblance to his father at the same age. Ive held him in a hug, and exhaled: “Ahh!”

Earlier, Ive had said that he wouldn’t trade reach for permanence. The studio’s perpetual advancements improved “the quality of life for millions and millions and millions of people.” To decelerate—“to say, ‘There you are, it’s done’ ”—would make his professional life simpler. But that, Ive said, would be “really selfish of me.”

The Premium Exterior Package is reserved exclusively for core (non-R-Dynamic) Velar derivatives, and includes lower exterior trim elements finished in high-gloss Narvik Black to enhance the vehicle’s elegant detailing. The addition of fog lamps, a tow-eye cover in Narvik Black, tow-eye cover surround in Indus Silver and lower bumper blades in Atlas Silver complete the transformation.

The Velar is offered with coil springs as standard on four-cylinder models, and a ground clearance of 8.4-in (213mm). Four-corner air suspension is standard on six-cylinder models offering an increased ground clearance of 9.9-in (241mm).

Let’s start off with those little fake carbon fiber inserts, since they’re the first things you see. There’s one on the top and one on the bottom, and each features a satin finish with a subtle texture. I’m usually not a fan of imitation materials, but this is pretty well-done. It doesn’t look like they’ll ever start peeling up. There are also some gloss accents around those faux-CF pieces, which is a nice touch. The material of the rest of the case is TPU with a matte finish on top. This finish does a fantastic job of resisting fingerprints and keeping the case clean, but if you have dry hands (like many do at this time of year), it also makes them feel even drier. I’m not sure how exactly to explain this, but it’s just not very pleasant to hold for me.

From all of my complaints, you can probably tell that I don’t like the Ghostek Atomic 3. It’s weird-looking, it has the infamous rainbow effect on the back, and the buttons couldn’t be easily pressed by The Rock himself. You’ll probably want to skip this one, as there are a ton of superior alternatives for the money. But if you do want one for whatever reason, it comes in six colors: black, gold, pink, red, silver, and teal. (Again, the Pixel 2 version is oddly not available on Amazon.)

These predictions show that as the wavelength of the variations in superheat, P, approaches the departure diameter of the bubbles, a resonance-like effect is seen leading to substantial increases in both HTC and CHF. Interestingly, Fig. 5b shows that this resonance-like enhancement in heat transfer is seen at the same wavelength for all phases of boiling. At a common wall superheat of ΔT = 11 K, the heat transfer rates of the various surfaces range from 40–230 W/cm−2 (Fig. 3a). This corresponds to a greater than 5x difference in vapor production rates between the highest and lowest performing surfaces. At a common heat flux of 91 W/cm−2, the required wall superheat more than doubles across the surfaces tested, varying from 9 K to 19 K. At CHF, each surface is operating at distinctly different heat fluxes (from 91 to 230 W/cm−2) and wall superheats (from 11 to 19 K). Yet in all three cases, the maximum HTC is observed for bi-conductive surfaces where the pitch between epoxy divisions, P, is equal to the capillary length, λC.
